Being an entrepreneur has its ups and downs. When things get rough, it’s easy to lose motivation as an entrepreneur. In this blog, we will be looking at 5 ways to stay motivated as an entrepreneur.
An entrepreneur is someone you want to achieve something extra ordinary, otherwise why did you start a business in the first place? So by setting yourself personal goals and chasing those goals, this is one way to stay motivated.
If you set short to medium term goals (smart goals), you can ensure you’re focused and constantly doing everything in your power to help achieve those goals.
If you’re an entrepreneur, you’re probably working long hours, sometimes you’re doing 2, 3, 4 people’s jobs. Sometimes you don’t have enough time for your personal life but setting and maintaining a healthy routine will help you last a long time, for example, finding different activities, maybe that’s going to the gym or maybe its running or even yoga.
Doing some sort of healthy activity or eating healthy, will ensure that you can last the test of time. Entrepreneurship is a marathon not a sprint. So if you’re fit and healthy you can do more, you can work more hours, you can have more meetings, everything that you need to do in order to become a successful entrepreneur.
Having a plan is similar is having your goals. A plan however, is more of a guide to achieving the goals. So if you have a plan in place, you know the steps you need to take, you know the different marketing activities that you need to conduct, you know the different type of audience you need to target.
When you have a roadmap to achieving your goals, this will keep you hungry and motivated as an entrepreneur.
So don’t dismiss having a plan, because when things seems bleak, a well laid plan can be the saving grace and propel you to the next level.
Sometimes when things get hard, you need something or someone else to lift your spirit. That might be you being in a room with other entrepreneurs or maybe you need to watch something motivational videos on YouTube for example. It could also be attending an industry conference and so on.
Having different motivational activities that you can fall back on and pick yourself back up, is a sure way to stay in the game when the going gets tough.
You work hard! If you keep working hard without any benefit for yourself it’s very difficult to continue working hard. So set different milestones for yourself and if you achieve something quite significant, reward yourself.
That could be a day off, buying yourself some new clothes or buy a car or a house. Having different rewards in place, will help you to stay motivated as an entrepreneur so you can achieve the goal you have set out.
